This classic contemporary bathroom remodel adds warmth and new life to a dated space with fresh traditional details. Brushed nickel finishes and warm wood tones pair with white walls that bring a crisp contemporary feel to the space.
The client wanted to have their three bathrooms remodeled. They wanted to increase the functionality and be up-to-date and stylish. Several layout changes and adjustments would make each bathroom function better for the family and create a cohesive aesthetic throughout the space. One of the specific mentions was adding a built-in hamper. Instead of taking up another space for it, we incorporated it into their vanity. The photos shown are from the main bathroom.
Modern homeowners no longer find the existing condition of the main bathroom suitable and need to bring it up to date. The bathroom layout is too cramped and has a lot of unnecessary and outdated fixtures. The shower initially had a curved glass block wall that took up space in the walkway and compromised traffic flow because of this layout.
The large Jacuzzi tub took up a lot of floor space and dominated the room. Removing it opened up so much more space in the bathroom and improved circulation.
The wallpaper is outdated. The old flooring and the oak vanity show age. These components are still fully functional, but it's best to update these with a remodel. We will need a complete remodel to make this bathroom up to date.
At our initial meeting, we learned what the clients wanted from their bathroom remodel. They already had a vision for making their space look in the end, so we spent our time figuring out the details that would make that happen. The clients' choices were beyond their budget, so we balanced their wants against cost and materials. We aimed to keep as many design details within the range of feasibility and be responsible for their budget. After inspecting the space and talking with the clients, we developed a contemporary design that incorporated traditional design elements.
This beautiful bathroom remodels design is simple, clean, and timeless.
We closed up an open doorway and added a new door to the bathroom so it was more private and spacious for a free-standing tub. We also maintain details like baseboards, crown moldings, and door casings for traditional elements to create a seamless connection in the bathroom.
The designer did an excellent job bringing the design to life and ensuring that every aspect of the new bathroom was fully functional. No significant issues arose during construction, and everything worked out great. We think that this new space will meet our clients’ needs and wishes for many years to come!
Although we ran into a few minor difficulties, the remodel work went smooth once we took the time to gather all of the information needed to make important decisions. Our clients appreciated our willingness to modify our original plans in response to their concerns.
In this bathroom remodel, we achieve a contemporary design with traditional details. Warm light gray, cream, and white are used throughout the space while contrasting wood tones are used for the vanity to add warmth to the area. The floor tiles are Bianco dolomite in 12x24, matching perfectly with the tiles used for the shower wall and flooring.

Our client's vision of a bathroom featuring contemporary finishes with traditional detail became a reality. We were able to work within the client's budget and finish on time. Even with the changes made throughout the process, The client was happy that they could work with us throughout the entire process so they could get exactly what they wanted.
For this home remodel project, the client initially intended to transform their home in Redmond, WA into a modern coastal home that integrated natural materials with striking clean lines in its visual aesthetic. The final design would include modern upgrades to increase functionality as their house demands progressed. In response to the client's request, other more useful design features were explored, and as a result, the team completely refined their home into a successful modern coastal home remodel.
When we began this project, the house had a wall dividing the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The client was adamant about having an open space layout. We ensured that the wall was not structural and safe to remove since the ceiling needed no support. Moreover, the floors, cabinets, and counters needed to be updated to fit the new style. The home needed an update.
This project was important to ensure the homeowners' new home was inviting and met their needs. We listened first to what the client wanted for the area, using their goals to guide our design process. Our Designer, Katherine Gatalski of Shepel Homes, suggested incorporating modern and coastal design styles. Using light colors, an open concept, and unique design details, we created a space that feels clean and bright while maximizing space.
We started by removing the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and dining room to create an airy feel and more storage without losing privacy. Next, we removed some cabinetry from above the stove to install a new range hood. The kitchen got two new additions: a sink and a tile backsplash. Next, we added an island perfect for meal prep and additional seating for guests and pendant lights above the kitchen island for ambiance and convenience. We installed new LVP flooring on the main floor. Finally, we replaced all of the hardware in the kitchen with modern nickel hardware to complete the look.
Modern Coastal Home Remodel consists of an open floor plan with increased square footage by connecting a dining room, living room, and kitchen to create a light, bright, and more functional home. New LVP flooring on the main floor complements the color of island cabinets and the cool tones of the interior color palette composed of creamy whites, light browns, subtle grays, and blue accents throughout.
To fit with the style of the house, we chose brushed nickel fixtures to match the overall finishes of appliances, pendant, and chandelier to unify the space. Also, adding the warm colors of natural wood creates a cozier feel.

The client hired us in the spring of 2021 for an entire home remodel. It took us about a month to work through the design and procure the materials required for this project. We completed the project in one month. Updates were made to the floors and cabinets, while we kept many furniture pieces from before. Furthermore, removing some walls enabled more space and light flow from the kitchen to the dining space, creating a single main living space for them to gather with friends and family. They love what we came up with and are very happy in their new home.
Our clients wanted to give their home a fresh bathroom makeover that goes with a modern touch. This remodeling project aims to infuse state-of-the-art design and innovative technologies to their three bathroom-spaces. We achieved this by taking their lifestyle into account. The existing drop-in tub in the master bathroom took a lot of space. Aside from outdated materials and colors, the light fixtures were also poorly placed.
The challenge was to make the bathrooms more spacious by using luxuriously finished materials that highlight the owner’s personality while increasing comfort by adding heated floors.
For the master bathroom, we designed a full-body shower spray system that gives a fresh waterfall experience. It comes with beautiful textured tile with heated floors, heated towel holder bar, and extended shower bench. A minimalist tub with angular design also added a sophisticated charm.
For the guest bathroom, a frameless shower glass was designed with open space and included a sleek drain cover. The modern design was made consistent in the half bathroom by installing a one-piece-easy-to-clean toilet with a metallic finish.
From the beginning, it was important for the team to understand the core priorities for their new master bathroom, including space, aesthetics, and comfort requirements. After having a design consultation, we agreed on a budget parameter that maximizes all the features and materials. Following that, we proceeded to specify the scope of work necessary to bring to life their dream bathrooms and delivered an itemized budget to the client.

The client was thrilled with the new luxurious finishes that brought them an authentic spa experience. Through effective communication and mutual trust, the clients’ dream bathroom became a reality. The Shepel team was genuinely delighted by how this bathroom remodel turned out.

In this project, the client wanted to transform his log cabin house into a designer-inspired home. He had specific visions for the project, like leveling the floor down to the basement, putting a heated tile flooring, creating an entertainment space from its former drafty state, and maximizing light and space.
This major remodeling project aims to update the entire house. First, there were too many walls between areas and rooms. The ceiling in the living room was also restrictive. The client, who is a bachelor, prefers one large master bedroom over multiple tiny rooms. Second, the middle part of the house badly needs updating since it was built in the 40s. Third, its master suite room and master bathroom need improvement. Fourth, the house had inefficient use of space—there was no space for the kitchen island.
Essentially, the team went with a spacious transitional design with craftsman elements. Our seasoned designer, KB Design LLC, proposed a large master bedroom, an open living room with ample light and space, and an entirely new kitchen with plenty of room for storage and a wine cooler. The former master bedroom was turned into a home office while the basement was transformed into a media room.
The Shepel Homes team worked closely with KB Design LLC’s designer to bring the property back to life by mixing the old with the new. The property was already in a great location but the owner felt that the house’s overall design does not do justice to this great location.
The design considered the efficiency of use and practicality. This project’s unique features are as follows:

There were heated floors in all bathrooms of the house, making each morning more bearable.
This project also highlights a basement theater room with walnut wall paneling and a great sound system that creates a fantastic environment for watching movies or playing games.
The team was able to preserve the house’s original siding and gave it a fresh new look. This property’s spacious living room, oversized windows, and oak-covered flooring were enhanced for aesthetics and natural lighting.
Additions were made in the kitchen, like the integration of an exhaust fan for the range and custom cabinets. The master’s bedroom was also improved with a modern bathroom, a beautiful walk-in closet, and extra sitting space on the side. It also has a theater room with heated tile flooring, infused with a stylish walnut wave tile, according to the client’s preference.

Our clients wanted to build an addition on the first floor of the house. The aging parents of one of the clients are going to move in and live with them, however, they do not have an available living space to house them.
Since the living space is going to be occupied by an elderly couple, they wanted it to be essentially a master bedroom with its own full bathroom to make it as comfortable and convenient as possible.
Since the intended occupants of the house extension is an old couple, the clients wanted it to be in the first floor were access to the rest of the house is safest and easiest. However, there is no spare room on this floor so they decided to build an extension on an empty and unused deck instead.
Since we were adding the extension to the side of the house where the sliding door to the backyard was, we had to remove a window in the dining room and replace it with a new sliding door. The opening of the window was the perfect size to accommodate the sliding door so our installation crew took care of the challenge in one day.
After the client relationship manager’s several discussions with the client, we agreed to build the extension on the first floor by removing part of the deck. Externally, we had to match the design of the existing house in order to preserve conformity. Internally, the design has to be simple yet refreshing.
Additionally, it was important for the client for the extension to have vaulted ceilings. This posed a challenge as the structure of the house required to route the mechanical ducting above the room. To address this problem, our designer decided to change the ceiling degree of slope to be less than the slope of the roof which created a gap in between allowing to route the necessary mechanical components.
Aside from the issue with the vaulted ceilings, we also had to work with the window on the upper floor. The window on this side of the house had to be downsized as it will interfere with the new wall that we are building which had to be 6″ wide.
Although the deck area is big enough to contain the extension, it is still relatively small. Aside from a bedroom, we also had to fit a bathroom adjacent to it so the elderly couple will not have to walk a long way across the house to access the common bathroom. In order to visually expand the space, we did a vaulted ceiling and used light colors for the walls, ceiling, and flooring.
The project manager played a key role in making sure that the workflow went smoothly. In addition to communicating via text, email, and our CRM app, he was frequently on-site and communicated in person with the clients who are living on the property. All of the tradesmen did a superb job in completing the installations. The designer was instrumental in guiding the homeowner throughout the project assisting with finish material selections.

We are happy to see the project come to fruition. From analyzing the architectural plans to the last day at the job, it was exciting to see it all come together. The clients were thrilled to see the project move fast without any schedule delays and be complete in a timely manner.
Our remodeling goal was to update the kitchen cabinets and flooring. The old wooden cabinets had been there for years and needed replacing. Since they were custom-made, it would not be easy to find a replacement that would fit perfectly. So rather than try to find new cabinets that matched the existing ones, we decided to alter the layout of the space.
The aim is to keep the kitchen island's green element and create an open, airy space while maintaining elegance and simplicity. Update color scheme, countertops, and lighting to match the kitchen design.
The client expressed concerns about the outdated materials and the lack of contemporary elements in their kitchen. The working space doesn't have enough room for food preparation. Thus a kitchen island should be big enough for food preparation allowing more people to work together in a confined space.
In addition, the cabinets are bulky and lowered, which takes up most of the kitchen space. The walk-in pantry takes up valuable floor space. The lighting is poor and makes the area look dark and dull. These concerns can be resolved through remodeling, giving the homeowner an elegant new kitchen without the hassle of renovating.
We proposed renovating the kitchen while preserving the structure. The space was initially bulky, so we wanted to make it more accessible and useful. We removed the walk-in pantry and added a pantry cabinet to compensate for the lost space. This allowed us to achieve a more functional and spacious area. Furthermore, we improved the area by adding more storage, redesigning the kitchen cabinetry, and updating the kitchen with new materials to create a timeless designed kitchen that fits the surroundings.
We had to reassess the kitchen cabinet's design to maximize its utility and functionalities in the remodeling process. Since we have a particular cabinet design and dimensions, we needed to ensure that all the detailed specifications we wanted get incorporated into the cabinet's final design. Despite a few minor setbacks, the kitchen cabinets looked pretty good and as planned.
The kitchen renovation project started with a color palette inspired by the clients' green tones. We then added bold green to the island and some hues of green on the countertops.
Our goal is the create a space that our clients would love. We take into consideration their preferences and their needs for the space. Our skilled designers guide and educate our clients on how to best achieve their goals while at the same time being cognizant of the space, color palette, materiality, proportions of the space, and adhering to dimensional guidelines.
Our client wanted to remodel their Contemporary house in Woodinville, so they hired us to refurbish the whole home. They wanted it to appeal to new owners, who would be purchasing the place for its updated design and amenities. Our client knew it would be an investment, but they wanted to make sure that it would be profitable to have a positive return on their financial investment.
We made sure this project gave the house a new lease on life by making it as appealing as possible so that they could achieve a profitable investment in the long run.
The existing condition of this contemporary home was in dire need of a refresh. The layout is not functional. Old and decayed materials, minor to major damage, and some appliances and fixtures are not operational.
Our inspectors have visited the house and made some observations about the existing condition of this contemporary home and determined that there are major repairs and replacements we need to do.
The plan for this entire remodel was to maximize the house's functionality and create a space that would be both beautiful and practical.
Interior
Opening up the kitchen and dining room area by removing a wall between the two spaces, redesigning the laundry room to include stackable washer and dryers, a tub/shower combination, and a toilet, and changing the floors, millwork, doors, windows, electrical outlets and plugs, and plumbing finishes. New tile in all the bathrooms, new cabinets and countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, and new appliances.
Exterior
We plan to make the house look more contemporary by replacing old siding with Hardie plank lap siding. Add a decorative cedar wall around the entry door. Remove the old driveway and entry concrete porch, redesign the stairs to the entry door, and lay new grass to enhance curb appeal.
When we started working on this house, we removed the old siding and discovered there was no plywood sheathing on the walls. We decided not to let them leave it like that, so we installed new sheathing around the whole house.
After six months of working on this house, we finished what we could, fixed any problems we encountered along the way and made it comply with city codes. We tore down walls, made space open, built new walls, and re-wired the entire house.
We replaced old materials with new ones, ensuring everything was up to code and safe for the clients and future homeowners to use this space.
As you can see, the front foyer is a significant improvement in this house remodel. The bowed wall has been replaced with a sturdy new one, then we tore down the half-wall and installed a new industrial metal railing. We chose a contemporary walnut door with frosted glass inserts to fit the modern design of this whole remodel.
The contemporary house remodel in Woodinville was completed with modern siding. The front of the house was renovated with smooth cedar channel siding, and new garage doors were installed—one side made of frosted glass, giving it a sleek and modern look. This house's siding is Hardie plank lap siding, complete with a fresh coat of paint, making it look sharp and modern.
This bathroom was designed with a monochromatic color palette mainly made up of grays, creams, and white. Cabinets are dark flat gray panels and add a nice contrast to the other parts in the bathroom. The decorative mosaic adds some flair and design to this area. The newly installed shower alcove tub adds a modern element to the space.
A two-toned contemporary kitchen with glossy white and dark matte-grey cabinets - these flat panel cabinets give the space a minimalist look. Countertops are from Avenza Polished by Pentalquartz to provide durability and low maintenance. We added an extra-large kitchen island that provides more surface space for food preparation and installed modern pendant lighting for ambient lighting over the island.
This whole house's overall remodel made it look like it was just built from the ground up. The remodel increased curb appeal, making the home attractive to family, friends, and future buyers. We strive to create a space that our clients love. We take their preferences and their needs into account.

This renovation is a great example of taking an existing house and updating the finishes with modern styling and quality materials. The client's main goal was to update the finishes throughout their home, allowing for a more inviting feel. They wanted a more modern look while also upgrading those cabinets with durable materials that would last a lifetime.
To achieve this goal, we used all new custom cabinets made out of rich wood and premium hardware. Continued throughout each room, fresh paint, lighting packages, appliances, and other elements enhance an area's design and create cohesiveness throughout the house.

Before the renovation, this home had an unnecessary wall that needed to remove. However, this didn't affect the structural integrity of the house. In addition to outdated cabinets, this home needed new surfaces, paint colors, flooring, and lighting upgrades —especially in the kitchen area. Appliances also needed to be updated, and some extra spaces in the house could be maximized as useful storage areas.
There was minimal change in layouts but ensuring that the space was comfortable and inviting. We removed a 4-foot wall from the primary bathroom to create an open feeling—the wall separated the shower enclosure from the rest of that room.
The overall house color is Sherwin Williams' Zurich White. In the kitchen, By going with white kitchen cabinets and white countertops and adding dark hardwood floors with light gray walls, we could achieve a light and vibrant space. All customized millwork will be installed for added beauty.
No structural changes were made during the renovation, so we weren't worried about the safety or structural integrity of the house, but we didn't anticipate how big of a hassle it would be to take care of furniture and clothing during the renovation. Lesson learned, never do that again.
We feel like adding an apron sink in the kitchen allowed it to feel like a backcountry house and not a cookie cutting in the suburbs, along with the waterfall slab on the peninsula with white tile below the overhang. Also, having a butcher block countertop above the living room storage cabinets adds a beautiful contrast to the overall monochromatic color scheme in the house. It also ties in nicely with the original stone on the fireplace.

After seeing the before and after photos of this home, we were amazed by how much it had changed. The colors work well together, and the whiter tones dominate, giving the space a light, positive energy. Our goal from the beginning was to create a modern-day look, both durable and timeless - We kept this in mind at all times during design, construction, and repurposing. The homeowners were delighted with the renovation project results, and we were glad to have been able to work with them.
